Even where the grass is greener
There will always be snakes
Friends and family that blend and pretend
And we can’t comprehend why they intend to offend
So we lose trust in them and keep a distance
But we still hear them hissing, always discussing us
Sometimes they shed their skin, seeking change
To earn our trust once again
We feel like we need them
To be wrapped around them
And admire their presence
But sometimes they squeeze too tight
And choke us out of jealousy
Suffocate us
Show us that love is hate in its purest form
Prevent us from being free
And finally sinking their fangs in us
Injecting us with poison
Stay awake and never trust a snake
Never make that mistake
a terrific poem and a terrific metaphor which you squeeze every venomous drop from 🙂
